چکیده

Insects such as black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) are gaining interest among researchers and the aquafeed industry due to fluctuating price supply of fish meal (FM). This study evaluated growth performance, feed stability, blood biochemistry, liver gut morphology Betta splendens using BSFL an alternative FM. Five formulated diets were prepared: 0% BSFL, 6.5% 13% 19.5% 24.5% BSFL. The expansion rate, pellet durability index, floatability, bulk density, water stability prepared have been assessed. Except for diameter feed, all parameters studied differed significantly ( p < 0.05 ) across experimental diets. After 60 days, fed with had highest final length, weight, net weight gain, specific gastrointestinal mean standard deviation values id="M2"> 3.97 ± 0.43 cm, id="M3"> 3.95 0.1 g, id="M4"> 2.78 id="M5"> 4.63 0.17 , id="M6"> 4.65 0.13 id="M7"> 237.26 7.9 % id="M8"> 0.04 0.01 mg, respectively. Effects of Substitution of Fish Meal with Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) Larvae Meal, in Yellow Catfish

An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate effects of replacing fish meal (FM) with black soldier fly larvae meal (BSF) on growth performance, feed utilization, and plasma parameters, for juvenile yellow catfish, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco. Six isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets were prepared substituting the FM protein with BSF protein in the following amounts: 0 (control group), 10% (BSF...

Genetics of the Siamese Fighting Fish, Betta Splendens.

ETTA SPLENDENS more commonly known as the Siamese fighting fish has B been popular in aquariums of western Europe and America for over 35 years. Its domestication and consequent inbreeding antedates the introduction into the West by 60 or 70 years. Selection for pugnacity, long fins (see Figure l ) , and bright colors over this long period has produced a number of phenotypes, none of which is v...

Feed of Siamese fighting fish, Betta splendens, (Regan, 1910) in open pond: live and formulated diets.

The growth rate and percent survival of Betta splendens when submitted to formulated diet and live food treatments are evaluated. The three different diets were used and designated as: formulated diet (basal diet); live food diet (plankton) and mixed diet (formulated diet with plankton). The live food diet contained plankton belonging to an open pond. High mortality was reported with live food ...

Intra-Puparial Development of the Black Soldier-fly, Hermetia illucens

The intra-puparial development of the black soldier-fly, Hermetia illucens (L.) (Diptera: Stratiomyidae), was studied based on 125 pupae under controlled conditions in laboratory. The 6(th) instar larvae were reared until they stopped feeding, and the prepupae were separated according to the reduction in larval length and degree of pigmentation and sclerotization of the cuticle. The pupal stage...

Audience effect is context dependent in Siamese fighting fish, Betta splendens

Investigations of communication networks in animals have focused primarily on determining whether animals extract information from peripheral contests (eavesdropping) or respond to the presence of bystanders (audience effect). The possibility that an animal’s response to being watched might be context dependent, however, has been explored in far less detail. This study investigated the influenc...
